John Oliver gleefully toying with a tired Stephen Colbert is peak late night

Despite staying up late to do a post-Super Bowl show on Sunday, Stephen Colbert put on a brave face for yet another Late Show on Monday. But guest John Oliver noticed the cracks.

"Can I just say how thrilled I am to be sitting opposite you when you're this tired?" grins Oliver at one point in the video above, as Colbert is reaching for his cue card. "A man who never ever uses guest question cards, just clinging to it like a life raft."

Luckily the host manages to scrape through the last couple of questions unscathed, but he does need Oliver to step in for the final throw to commercial.
