It's time for another one of awards season's major events. The Screen Actors Guild Awards (SAG Awards) recognizes and celebrates outstanding performances in motion pictures and television from the previous calendar year. Not to mention, they give us a bit of a preview of what to expect from the acting categories and Best Picture categories at the Oscars. Buckle up, y'all.

The 30th annual SAG Awards will take place later this month at the Shrine Auditorium and Expo Hall in Los Angeles. Here's everything you need to know to catch them live.

When are the 2024 SAG Awards?

The 2024 SAG Awards will be held on Saturday, Feb. 24, 2024 at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT and last approximately two hours. For those heavily involved in the awards circuit, that's about two weeks prior to the 2024 Academy Awards.

Who's nominated for the 2024 SAG Awards?

It comes as no surprise that Oppenheimer and Barbie have the most SAG Award nominations of any motion picture with four a piece, followed by American Fiction and Killers of the Flower Moon with three each. As Mashable Entertainment Reporter Belen Edwards noted, "Historically, the award for outstanding performance by a cast in a motion picture is often an indicator of what will win Best Picture at the Oscars." That means Barbie, Oppenheimer, American Fiction, and Killers of the Flower Moon all have a leg up.

On the TV side of things, Succession leads with five nominations, while The Bear, The Last of Us, and Ted Lasso all pulled four nominations.

How to watch the 2024 SAG Awards at home

This year's SAG Awards will broadcast live globally on Netflix for the first time. Unlike last year's ceremony, which broadcast live via the Netflix YouTube channel, this year's awards will require a Netflix subscription in order to watch.

Recently, Netflix announced they'll be axing their cheapest ad-free subscription plan. It comes as no surprise, given that the option has been unavailable to select on the sign-up page for some time now. So, unless you're grandfathered in, you really only have three main tier options to choose from. The most affordable option is to watch with ads — it'll run you $6.99 per month. Don't want ads? Your next-best choice is to sign up for Netflix Standard for $15.49 per month, which is quite the price jump to avoid a few ads during your streaming sessions. Finally, there's a third tier for new subscribers dubbed Netflix Premium. It'll cost you a whopping $22.99 per month and will let you watch on four household devices at once (as opposed to the other plans' two devices) in 4K (Ultra HD) + HDR with no ads.

Best Netflix deal for Verizon customers

One year of Netflix
Free for Verizon customers who sign up for a +play annual subscription

If you're a Verizon customer, you can get a free year of Netflix through Verizon's +play portal, which is essentially an online platform that lets you streamline your streaming subscriptions. The offer is exclusively for Verizon postpaid mobile, 5G Home, and LTE Home customers for a limited time. You can determine your eligibility on the +play promo FAQs page. Through the +play portal, when you buy one valid seasonal or annual subscription, you get Netflix Premium for free.

Here's how to get the deal:

  1. Sign in to My Verizon from a web browser (not the Verizon app), then sign in to +play from the Shop tab.

  2. Choose Learn More on the Buy Annual subscription, Get Netflix on us tile, then Get it Now.

  3. Enter your information and accept the terms and conditions.

  4. Create an Annual subscription account

  5. Under the subscriptions tab, click Manage to activate the Netflix account and create a profile (or log in to an existing account).

Best Netflix deal for T-Mobile customers

Netflix Standard (with ads)
free for those on most Go5G plans (save $6.99/month)

It may not be as great as getting Netflix Premium for free, but T-Mobile customers on most Go5G plans can score Netflix Standard with ads for free (reg. $6.99 per month) as long as their account is in good standing. In order to be eligible, you need to have two or more lines of any type of Go5G or Magenta plan or at least one line of Go5G Next, Go5G Plus, or Magenta MAX. While the Netflix subscription is free, you'll have to manually activate it by logging in to My.T-Mobile and selecting Manage add-ons. Once you're on the Manage data and add-ons page, add Netflix in the Services section and you'll be prompted to either create a Netflix account or sign in to an existing one. T-Mobile will pay Netflix directly for you. However, it may take a few billing cycles to see your billing transfer to T-Mobile if you were previously a Netflix subscriber. Check out the terms and FAQs on the promo page.

Best Netflix bundle deal

Netflix and Max bundle (with ads)
$10 per month for Verizon customers with myPlan (save $6.99)

As of Dec. 2023, Verizon customers with myPlan can add a Netflix and Max bundle (with ads) for just $10 per month (save $6.99 per month). That essentially gets you Netflix with ads for free. Eligible Verizon customers include those on the Unlimited Welcome, Unlimited Plus, or Unlimited Ultimate plans. After enrolling in the promo, you'll have to complete the account setup separately for each service. Eligibility details, terms, and FAQs can be found on the Verizon support page.
