PRE-ORDER NOW: As of Feb. 21, you can pre-order all three editions of the Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree DLC for 2022's Elden Ring from the Bandai Namco Store, including the Collector's Edition.
It's time for another trip back to the Lands Between. The hotly-anticipated Shadow of the Erdtree DLC for 2022's hit game Elden Ring has finally been revealed. Developer FromSoftware showcased three minutes of the upcoming expansion in a new trailer that dropped on Wednesday and confirmed that the expansion is set to hit all platforms on June 21.
As of Feb. 21, you can pre-order Shadow of the Erdtree on the platform of your choice. These are three editions available at the US Bandai Namco store right now: the Shadow of the Erdtree Edition digital download, the Shadow of the Erdtree Deluxe Edition digital download, and the Shadow of the Erdtree Collector's Edition, which must be purchased from the physical Bandai Namco store.
You can choose your preferred platform for both the digital pre-order bundles at the official Bandai Namco store link and will be redirected to purchase from there. The Shadow of the Erdtree Edition digital download comes with the DLC expansion and a bonus gesture that your character can use in-game as a pre-order bonus for $39.99. The Shadow of the Erdtree Premium Bundle comes with those two goodies as well as a digital artbook and soundtrack for $49.99.
The Collector's Edition is $249.99 and can be purchased via the Bandai Namco store. It's currently the only physical edition but still comes with a code voucher for the actual game content, so the only thing you're really getting is a statue that you can touch. Though the European version comes with a treasure trove of goodies, like a large state of Messmer the Impaler, a 40-page hardcover artbook, and a voucher for the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC and official soundtrack, it seems the US store is only getting a version with the DLC voucher and the statue without the extras for the same price.
This is the first DLC expansion for the wildly popular Elden Ring. This time, you'll be able to explore an even more sinister area of the Lands Between, with a selection of disturbing monsters and even more disturbing lore to wade through. This is the Land of Shadow, which looks to be a different area than we previously explored in the base Elden Ring. The DLC focuses squarely on Miquella, the brother of one of Elden Ring's most notorious bosses, Malenia.
A god himself, Miquella was in stasis in a large cocoon in Elden Ring in an effort to stave off the Scarlet Rot disease from his affected sister. Expect plenty more challenging boss fights, intriguing lore, and a likely showdown with Miquella. And who knows what else?
Best to lock in your preorder now if you plan on playing on day one – especially if you want to lock in your Collector's Edition. Those can go for a pretty penny if you miss out on the first wave, as many fans will tell you from Elden Ring's initial release.
