If your Instagram feed isn't loading or you can't access Facebook, you're not alone. And no, you didn't get hacked.
As of Tuesday midmorning (Eastern time) Meta-owned social media platforms Instagram, Facebook, and Messenger were down.
More than 500,000 users reported Instagram, Facebook, and Messenger outages starting around 10:08 a.m. EST to Down Detector. Reports spiked at 10:30 a.m. EST. (Down Detector is owned by ZiffDavis, Mashable's parent company.) There were over 72,000 posts on Twitter / X about the Facebook and Instagram outage.
By 12 p.m. EST the issue appeared to be resolved. At 12:19 p.m., Andy Stone, Communications Director at Meta, posted, "Earlier today, a technical issue caused people to have difficulty accessing some of our services. We resolved the issue as quickly as possible for everyone who was impacted, and we apologize for any inconvenience."
