UPDATE: Nov. 27, 2023, 6:05 p.m. EST We've updated this post with the latest Cyber Monday deals on Chromebooks, including a new $79 HP Chromebook deal.

If you need a dirt-cheap laptop for basic browsing, schoolwork, or light gaming (and aren't married to MacOS or Windows), a Chromebook can be a smart buy: They scrap fancy specs in favor of built-in security features, rugged builds, decent battery lives, and affordable price points, and they all come with 100GB of cloud storage for one year via Google One. It's tough to find a better value pick.

Cyber Weekend is a great time to purchase a Chromebook — or any kind of laptop, really — as they tend to drop to outrageous year-round lows ahead of the holidays; last year's record was a mere $79, which was finally met this year in the late hours of Cyber Monday, thanks to Newegg's deal on a $79 HP Chromebook.

Other than that, we only found one Chromebook that cheap on Black Friday 2023 (and it's an in-store doorbuster at Target), but if you broaden your search to $200 or below, you've still got tons of options — including one model from Google's brand-new Chromebooks Plus line.

Keep reading for a running list of the best early Cyber Monday Chromebook deals thus far. (Spoiler: most of our favorites are all Acer models from Best Buy.) Be sure to check back often, as we'll continue to update it in the lead-up to the holiday.

Note: All newly added deals are marked with a . Deals with a strikeout were either sold out or expired at the time of writing.

Why we like it

Google recently unveiled the Chromebooks Plus, a new series of premium Chromebooks with built-in Google apps, Full HD IPS displays, and 1080p+ cameras with AI features. This 15.6-inch Acer model comes with a 12th-generation Intel Core i3 processor, 8GB of RAM for multitasking, and 128GB of storage. Best Buy has it marked down to just $269, which is 33% off its sticker price of $399 — a hefty discount for a laptop that only just debuted in October.

Why we like it

In the cheapest overall laptop deal of Black Friday 2023 so far (that's not an in-store exclusive), you can get this 11.6-inch convertible Chromebook from Best Buy for just $124. It's not an impressive PC by any means: It has an old MediaTek processor, a measly 4GB of RAM, 64GB of eMMC storage, and a 1360 x 768 touchscreen display with chunky bezels. But for this price, it's a solid buy for casual tasks like web browsing, taking notes, and watching YouTube videos. (Note that it usually sells for $169.99 on Acer's website — the retailer's price is slightly inflated.)

Gaming Chromebook deals

Why we like it

The Chromebook 516 GE is a 16-inch laptop from 2022 that's designed specifically for cloud-based gaming (the GE stands for "Gaming Edition"), packing a 120Hz display and a backlit keyboard; this model has a 12th-gen Intel Core i5 processor, 8GB of RAM, and 256GB of SSD storage. It doesn't have a fancy GPU, but that didn't matter to the experts at our sister site PCMag, who took it for a test run: "[It's] still one of the best Chromebooks we've ever seen, and one uniquely suited to let you get into high-end PC gaming with a fraction of the hardware usually required," they wrote. It typically sells for $649.99, but you can snag it on sale for just $449 at Best Buy — a 31% discount we've only spotted once before.

Frequently Asked Questions

Brands like Acer, ASUS, HP, and Lenovo all make solid Chromebooks at a range of price points, including some of the new Chromebooks Plus. While Dell is also in the Chromebook-making business, its models are either total clunkers with poor specs or wildly overpriced business notebooks.

Fun fact: As of 2022, Google itself no longer makes its own Chromebooks. (Kind of a shame, too, as some of those Pixelbooks were pretty nice.)

Full disclosure: Laptops that cost $100 or less aren't going to be great laptops. Most of them are older or discontinued models with outdated specs, plastic builds, and dim screens. (If you're not paying MacBook prices, don't expect MacBook-level performance and quality.) However, they're perfectly fine for day-to-day tasks that don't call for a ton of power or cutting-edge features — you don't need a foldable OLED display or NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40 series graphics to send an email, you know?
