OkCupid is a tried-and-true dating site that has been matching singles online since 2004. It remains hugely popular thanks to its sleek interface, great algorithm, and large user base of people looking for all sorts of relationships.

While the questions are optional, it's recommended that you answer at least the 420 question to help you find other pot lovers. Hinge was re-launched in 2016 as a very low-pressure dating app focusing on fun information and photos instead of the swiping model. It's designed to feel like an Instagram feed, with interesting tidbits about yourself between photos. When you match with someone, Hinge prompts recipients with a "Your Turn" feature designed to keep the conversation going to decrease the possibility of "ghosting" someone — something that happens far too frequently on dating apps. Hinge wants singles to build relationships instead of hookups or something casual.

Why we picked this:

Not as porn-y as AdultFriendFinder, but just the right amount of risqué, iHookup is effective in almost the same way (although without as large of a user base to pick from). Like AdultFriendFinder, everyone is here for the same thing (hint: it’s not to find love), and there’s a matchmaking algorithm that takes answers to questions about dirty talk and fetishes in mind — but keep in mind it’s super easy for people to exaggerate here. 

The biggest downside is that iHookup's already tiny community (only around 230,700 people join per month) is largely dispersed across the world, so unless you live in a big (big) city, chances are you’re not going to find someone living a cab ride away from you. Realistically, what you'll likely find on this app is a long-distance sexting partner, which might not be a bad thing if that's what you're looking for.

Because it’s literally just for sex, iHookup works for a very specific type of hookup. But it plays well to its strengths — i.e., you can get stoned and chat with potential partners without leaving the house. Be more lenient with your search radius, or you might get stuck with a big fat "zero" on your match count.

Plenty of Fish (POF) is a dating sea teeming with opportunities for companionship, friendship, and a hookup here and there (if that's what you're looking for). Thanks to an interest search feature, you'll easily be able to find a date who would love to roll up a joint with you.

It might not have the cultural cachet of apps like Bumble or Tinder, but Plenty of Fish is one of the most popular dating sites among singles, with more than 100,000,000 members worldwide. And it’s not just for dating — if you’re looking for a new smoking buddy, this is a great way to meet less-than-romantic connections too.

Plenty of Fish is a good alternative to OkCupid — in terms of dating apps, they’re both kind of in the same “tier.” 

While you can search by location, age, and gender, you can also search by interests like "420-friendly" and "cannabis." You’d be surprised how many people who use the dating site are weed enthusiasts or use marijuana regularly. Although Plenty of Fish wasn’t created with cannabis in mind, it was built in a broad way so that singles have developed a category for it based on their interests. Given how friendly Plenty of Fish is toward weed users and how big its member pool is, it makes for a better experience for some than the marijuana-specific sites and apps, which tend to have a much smaller user pool.

Date420Friendly.com, a site designed for people who live, smoke, and dream of cannabis culture, landed as our last resort due to its outdated interface and lack of a mobile app.

Why we picked this:

With Date420Friendly.com, you no longer have to feel awkward on a first date when you tell them that you enjoy consuming marijuana — after all, it’s kinda in the name, and all sorts of medicinal and recreational users sign up to try their luck here. Date420Friendly.com wants you to "enjoy the highs in life" by meeting new people, playing fun games, joining group discussions, and attending 420-friendly events and meet-and-greets. The site is also a resource for finding new jobs as it works as a classifieds page for the 420 community. If marijuana is a big part of your life, then Date420Friendly.com is your dating site.

Setting up a profile is pretty easy, with basic information like gender, who you’re looking for, and what you’re on the site for (“fun,” “whatever,” “dating,” “friendship” — ”relationship” isn’t an option). You also answer other lifestyle questions like “favorite way to spend time,” how much you drink, and questions about physical characteristics like body type and hair color. Once you upload a photo of yourself and write a short bio, you’re taken to your dashboard, which feels very early 2000s — as if it was from the MySpace and Friendster era of social networking. Unfortunately, there is no mobile app available.

Signing up is free, but you really can’t do anything on the site (even send messages or interact with other users) until you upgrade your subscription. It seems like a big commitment to upgrade when you haven't really had a chance to try it, especially considering the site itself appears rather neglected. We'd consider this more of a last-resort option, and we expect users in big cities to have the best luck.
