During its iPhone 15 launch event, Apple took some time to elaborate on the new Apple Watch Series 9. One of the more interesting tidbits from the segment is that Apple is ditching leather for its watch bands, and indeed all future products, to reduce carbon emissions. Apple is officially leather-free.
You might be wondering: What will Apple use instead? It's a new material called "FineWoven," a very silly name for something that Apple says has a suede-like texture. We won't know for sure how good FineWoven feels until we get our hands on it, but the most important thing is that it's apparently better for the environment than real leather.
This was part of a larger focus on making the Apple Watch Series 9 its first carbon-neutral product. If you want to feel good about purchasing a product, the Apple Watch Series 9 might be for you.
