Apple is planning to launch numerous new products soon, but don't expect it to happen at a dedicated launch event.
According to MacRumors, which cites a source familiar with the matter, the company will launch new iPad Pro, iPad Air, and MacBook Air models, as well as several new accessories, this week.
In particular, we should see two new iPad Pro models, with an M3 chip and OLED display. There will be changes on the outside too: The new iPad Pros should be thinner and have a landscape-oriented front camera (our biggest pet peeve with the last model), as well as a redesigned camera bump on the back, and – maybe – MagSafe wireless charging.
Apple will also reportedly launch two new iPad Air models, with an M2 chip inside. One of these will have a 12.9-inch display, a first for the iPad Air.
There will be new accessories for the iPads as well, including a new Apple Pencil, a new, redesigned Magic Keyboard for the iPad Pro with a larger trackpad and a body partially made of aluminum.
Apple is also reportedly planning to launch a new 13-inch as well as a 15-inch MacBook Air, with an M3 chip inside, and support for Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3.
MacRumors' source seems to be less certain about these, but we could also get a new color option for the iPhone 15, and iPhone 15 Plus. And finally, we should see new color options for Apple Watch bands and iPhone cases.
All of this lines up with a recent report by Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, who said that new Macs, iPads, and accessories are coming "in the next several weeks." Like MacRumors, Gurman also claims that Apple won't have a launch event for these. Instead, the company is likely to just announce the new products on its site, accompanying the launch with a series of online videos and marketing campaigns.
March is typically the time when Apple launches new iPads, and the company often does it without a dedicated launch event. If these reports are accurate, this is still a pretty big launch for the company, with entry level MacBooks and iPads getting new chips, and the iPad Pro getting a pretty thorough overhaul, which includes a long-rumored OLED display.
